Firefighters continue mop-up operations today at a 200-acre brush fire first reported on Sunday in Kaunakakai. On Monday, the fire remained contained, with reports of a few flare-ups within the burn area.

The 200 acre fire on Molokai was called 100% contained at 6 p.m., but not under control. Fire officials say the blaze got within 50 feet from homes in Kalamaula Mauka…

A home fire in Hoolehua on Sunday caused an estimated $170,000 in damage to a 700-square foot wooden home located behind the women’s shelter on Molokai.

The fire was reported at 11:34 p.m. on Hua’ai Road off of the Maunaloa Highway, and was contained by 12:50 p.m. At around 1:30 this afternoon, fire officials said the blaze was 100% contained and crews remained on scene for mop-up operations.

Crews from the Maui Fire Department battled brush fire in the Kaluakoi area of Molokai on Friday evening. The blaze was first reported at 6:33 p.m. near Kaluakoi Road and Hauakea Avenue.

Maui firefighters continue mop-up operations at two Molokai brushfires. For a brief period earlier this afternoon, 911 phone service on Molokai was interrupted because of fire damage to Hawaiian Tel equipment.
