Update: Clifford Spencer, 63, of Kahului succumbed to the injuries he sustained related to this crash and died while at Maui Memorial Medical Center. This is Maui County’s fourth fatality this year, as compared to four at the same time last year.
A 28-year-old Lahaina woman was listed in “extremely critical” condition after being struck by a motorcycle while trying to cross the Honoapiʻilani Highway on foot in West Maui on Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2013, police said.
By 12:50 a.m., the Highway was completely open in both directions, and traffic was allowed to resume its normal two-lane flow. The accident was reported near mile marker 11, on the Lahaina side of the pali tunnel.
A day after a double motorcycle fatality on Maui, a separate near-fatal motorcycle accident occurred last night in Kahului. The accident was reported at 9:37 p.m. at the Kane/Vevau Street intersection.
The Honoapiilani Highway is now OPEN in both directions following a critical motorcycle accident reported at around 3:46 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Kaanapali between Kaanapali Parkway and Kekaa Drive.
