7,871 pieces of marine debris were found in an aerial survey of Niʻihau. That’s more than any other main Hawaiian Island. On Maui, there were 1,749 pieces.

The Maui students produced a story highlighting how residents and businesses on Maui are coping with the island’s plastic bag ban.
