Nov. 19-21: Utility work to impact traffic on Hāna Highway in Haʻikū area
Hawaiian Electric crews and contractors will be conducting equipment upgrades and tree trimming on Hāna Highway between Lower Ulumalu Road and Hohani Place (between mile markers 13 and 14) heading towards Central Maui from Tuesday, Nov. 19 to Thursday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily. The work is aimed at maintaining reliable service.
Traffic Advisory: Downed tree on Kula Highway and Old Haleakalā Highway intersection
Strong winds have downed a tree and traffic light on the intersection of Kula Highway and Old Haleakalā Highway near King Kekaulike High School, an area referred to as “five trees.”
Lanes closed at Kaʻahumanu and Papa Avenue intersection for nighttime work
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that lanes will be closed at the Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) and Papa Avenue intersection for traffic signal work from 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 until 6 a.m., Friday, Nov. 15.
Closures at Kāʻanapali intersection for traffic signal pole replacement, Oct. 29
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users of single lane closures at the intersection of Honoapi‘ilani Highway and Kāʻanapali Parkway, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 29, to replace a traffic signal pole.
Daytime closures on Kaʻahumanu Ave. for continued water line work
Motorists are advised that eastbound and westbound lanes of Kaʻahumanu Ave. between Kāne St. and Lono Ave. will be impacted by water line work for the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project on Thursday, Oct. 31 and Friday, Nov. 1.
Homes for FEMA’s Kilohana temporary housing site to be delivered next week to Lahaina
Motorists are advised of potential traffic delays as 10 modular homes for wildfire survivors are transported from Kahului Harbor to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Kilohana temporary housing site in Lahaina. The hauling is scheduled nightly from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27 through Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Pedestrian fatality: Crash on South Kīhei Road claims life of 71-year-old man
A 71-year-old man suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross South Kīhei Road on foot, outside of a marked crosswalk, police said.

Cravalho Way (Route 3800), on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 24, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Maui motorcyclist fatally injured after attempting to overtake vehicle on Pūlehu Road
A 68-year-old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries following a motorcycle collision on Pūlehu Road Thursday afternoon. Police say the man was operating a black 2012 Harley-Davidson Switchback motorcycle and was traveling northwest on Pūlehu Road when he attempted to overtake a vehicle on a double solid yellow line. The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle upon failing to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and drove into bushes.
Speed table striping on Honoapi‘ilani Highway in Waikapū and Wailuku
Highway users are advised that crews will be striping the five new speed tables on Honoapi‘ilani Highway (Route 30) in the vicinity of Maui Tropical Plantation and Kolo Place.

Utility work to impact traffic on Honoapiʻilani Highway near Ukumehame Beach Park on July 8
To maintain reliable service, Hawaiian Electric crews will be making routine equipment upgrades using bucket trucks along Honoapi‘ilani Highway between mile markers 12 and 13 near Ukumehame Beach Park in the West Maui area on Monday, July 8, impacting area traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No service interruptions are planned for this work.
Traffic advisory: Oil spill on roadway results in bottleneck
Motorists are advised of traffic into and out of Lahaina as crews continue cleanup efforts following an oil spill reported before noon near the Keawe Street / Honoapi’ilani Highway intersection. Motorists report continued traffic delays in the area.
