A Haʻikū woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a head-on crash reported on May 11, 2026. Maui Police have identified the woman as 55-year-old Teresa Campisi. 

A 55-year-old Haʻikū woman sustained critical, life-threatening injuries as a result of a head-on motor vehicle collision on the Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) near the intersection of North Kīhei Road, Sunday night.

Following significant progress in storm repair work while South Kīhei Road was closed between Ohukai Road and Kūlanihākoʻi Street since last week, the County Department of Public Works (DPW) Highways Division is planning to open both lanes of South Kīhei Road during nonworking hours.

South Kīhei Road will be closed between North Kīhei Road and Ohukai Road starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, and continuing through April 15, 2026, to repair damage from recent kona storms, according to the County of Maui Department of Public Works.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is advising highway users to prepare for potential traffic delays on Sunday, Jan. 18, as the Maui Oceanfront Marathon will proceed from the Shops at Wailea to Launiupoko Beach Park.

Night repair work is planned in Kīhei, resulting in a water service outage from 10 p.m. on Oct. 21 to 3 a.m. on Oct. 22, 2025.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises road users that one lane in either direction on North Kīhei Road will be closed from 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 28 to 5 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29 for safety improvements.

At approximately 3:53 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, a 50-year-old Kahului man drove himself to the Kīhei Medic Quarters located off South Kīhei Road and reported that he had been shot.

Maui police say speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in a fatal head-on crash on North Kīhei Road, Tuesday night.

Motorists on Maui are advised of potential traffic delays beginning Monday, Nov. 25, as crews check pavement quality on 13 state highways on the island. The data will allow HDOT to be proactive in repairing roads before they show signs of distress.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users of traffic slowdowns and possible delays along Honoapi‘ilani Highway (Route 30) and adjacent roadways early Friday morning as heavy equipment will be transported from the Pulehunui Industrial Park to the state’s Ka La‘i Ola temporary group housing site in Wahikuli.

Maui emergency crews are on the scene of a car fire located on the makai side of North Kīhei Road near the Mile 2 area of Sugar Beach. Maui police were on the scene at around 7:50 a.m. The fire appeared to be isolated to the shoulder area where black smoke and flames were seen coming from a light colored four door sedan.

Multiple road closures are in effect due to impacts from inclement weather that has resulted in flooding and debris on the roadways. Check here for updates.

The Maui Veterans Highway was reopened around 2:40 p.m., according to a spokesperson with the Maui Police Department. The brush fire was reportedly contained around 3:36 p.m. The Maui Fire Department will release specifics following their response.

A 39-year-old woman from Kīhei is in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center after an early morning car crash on Tuesday along North Kīhei Road.

An afternoon brush fire burned 8 acres in Māʻalaea since it was first reported at 1:49 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022. Fire crews were able to gain 100% containment by 5:40 p.m.
