Maui Landfill Reopens, Fire Contained

A landfill fire on Maui caused upwards of $360,000, since it was first reported on Sunday afternoon. County officials said the landfill is now open. Fire officials say the fire was 95% contained by Monday night.

Pacific Biodiesel is one of just seven companies in the nation to be recognized by the SJF Institute as a 2011 Green Jobs Award honoree.

Pacific Biodiesel Inc. and Maui Pacific Solar, Inc. will receive a combined total of $115,156 in grants and $190,000 in loan guarantees for two very different energy projects.

Maui-based Pacific Biodiesel has entered into a three-year contract with Hawaiian Electric Company to supply at least 250,000 gallons of locally produced biodiesel to the new 8-megawatt (MW) Honolulu International Airport Emergency Power Facility.
