The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory is reporting a preliminary magnitude 3.6 earthquake reported overnight at 9:47 p.m. HST on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, near Honokaʻa on Hawaiʻi Island. There were no advisories issued following the quake.

Seismic Swarm Continues: More than 100 Earthquakes Recorded
Scientists say it’s likely that high rates of seismicity could continue for several days. Officials say the earthquake swarm has not caused any obvious changes in Kilauea’s magma plumbing system or ongoing eruptions; but that the magnitude 4.3 quake did cause a small rockfall in the active vent located within Halema‘uma‘u Crater at the summit of Kilauea.

Quake Rattles Big Island, No tsunami
A 4.4 magnitude quake rattled the Big Island Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Readings from the Hawaii Volcano Observatory were slightly higher, measuring the quake at a 4.5 magnitude tremor.
