A Haʻikū woman has succumbed to injuries sustained in a head-on crash reported on May 11, 2026. Maui Police have identified the woman as 55-year-old Teresa Campisi.

A 55-year-old Haʻikū woman sustained critical, life-threatening injuries as a result of a head-on motor vehicle collision on the Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) near the intersection of North Kīhei Road, Sunday night.

Section of road in Kaupō will be closed 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. May 4-8 due to geotechnical work

A section of Piʻilani Highway in Kaupō will be closed to all traffic — except for emergency vehicles — from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly Monday, May 4, to Friday, May 8, 2026, for repairs project roadwork, according to County of Maui Department of Public Works.

Traffic Advisory: Utility pole severed on Kaʻahumanu Ave. fronting Maui Mall

Update: Kaʻahumanu East bound lanes are now open. There is no right turn onto Kaʻahumanu from Puʻunēnē Avenue. The right lane is closed fronting Maui Mall and there is no left turn into Maui Mall for Wailuku bound traffic.

Full road closure on Hāna Highway for HECO work

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation is notifying the public that both lanes on Hāna Highway (Route 360) in Huelo will be completely closed for two hours for Hawaiian Electric Co. work. The closure will be from 10 p.m. to midnight on Thursday, April 30.

Section of South Kīhei Road to close for storm repair work from April 20-June 20

South Kīhei Road will be closed between Ohukai Road and Kūlanihākoʻi Street starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, April 20. The closure will remain in place around the clock, weather permitting, through June 20, 2026, for repairs following recent Kona storms, according to the County of Maui Department of Public Works.

MEMA, County Parks and Recreation and the American Red Cross will begin proactively opening shelters across Maui today. Shelters will provide cots, food, and water. Bring bedding, essential supplies and any necessary medications. Pets are allowed only if they are in crates. The length of shelter operations will depend on the severity of the weather. Additional shelter locations may open if needed.

The new kona storm forecast to reach the state beginning today follows a severe kona storm that impacted the state March 13 to 16, 2026. Maui received the highest rainfall totals in the state from the first kona storm, and wind speeds were second highest in the state, according to NWS data. Flooding and wind severely damaged portions of South Maui, ‘Īao, Upper Kula, East Maui and Lahaina.

Update: 11:25 a.m., Feb. 9, 2026: A landslide is blocking both lanes at Mile 14.9 on Hāna Highway in between Kaumahina State Wayside Park and Keʻanae Peninsula. A crew is enroute.

Portion of Kahana Makai Road in West Maui closed until around 2:30 p.m., Jan. 8

Kahana Makai Road, between Kahana Ridge Drive and Tulip Place, will be closed to traffic in both directions from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, Jan. 8, 2026 for maintenance repairs.
