The day was created as a reminder of the community’s needs for services and programs year-round, and not just during the holidays. The organization will be observing the day with red kettles and bell ringers outside the Kahului Walmart and Maui Mall Longs from approximately 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Thursday, June 25, 2015.

The 2015 Statewide Point in Time Count shows a 12% increase in the homeless population on Maui, up 178 individuals from the 959 homeless reported in 2014.
