The County of Maui’s new School to Pool program is now making a splash in South Maui with Kīhei Elementary School students.

This March, Jersey Mike’s Subs is joining forces with Special Olympics Hawaiʻi to make a “sub-stantial” impact on the local community during the company’s annual Month of Giving campaign. Starting March 1, 2026, customers will have the option to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar or make a donation at any Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurant in Hawaiʻi — six locations on Oʻahu and three on Maui — as well as on the Jersey Mike’s Subs mobile app.

Athletes from throughout Hawai‘i will compete in basketball, bowling and track and field in June in Minneapolis.

Volunteer, off-duty, law enforcement officers are set to take their community spirit to new heights during Special Olympics Hawaiʻi’s annual Badges and Buckets fundraiser throughout the month of September.

Queen Kaʻahumanu Center kicks off the summer season of Kanikapila Thursdays on May 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with live music by Kawika Ortiz, games by Yard Games Hawaiʻi, a Giveaway Bingo Card, keiki crafts, and participation with community partners.

Par Hawaiʻi’s Fueling Dreams campaign is hitting the road to raise awareness for thousands of Hawaii’s athletes. From April 19 through May 31, island drivers can make a donation to Special Olympics Hawaiʻi athletes when they make a pit stop at 34 participating Hele stores across Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island and Maui.

On the “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 30, the Jersey Mike’s national chain – including its three locations on Maui – will donate 100% of its sales to support the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games and its participating athletes.

Special Olympics Hawaiʻi launched its first-ever Virtual High Five Campaign that aims to help and support local athletes with intellectual disabilities who have all been impacted by the unprecedented shutdown of in-person sports. The community can “send a virtual high five” by making a minimum donation of $5 by text now through the end of April.

For the first time in its 10-year history, Special Olympics Hawaiʻi’s annual Cheer for Champions event moves online and will take place over a three-day period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event raised $7,539 for Maui Special Olympics and $1,625 for Lahainaluna High School Golf Programs.

The third annual Swim & Fin to benefit Special Olympics Maui Swim Team is slated for Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Pukalani Aquatics Center.

Three Special Olympics Hawai‘i athletes departed today for the Special Olympics’ 2015 World Games in Los Angeles, California. Chaunci Cummings, Ikaika Morita-Sunada, and Isaiah Wong from Hawai‘i will represent not only the islands, but their country as members of the USA National Team.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

More than 33 law enforcement officers are camping atop Safeway stores statewide as they attempt to raise funds for Special Olympic athletes.
