The event was organized by Nā Moku ‘Aupuni ‘O Ko‘olau Hui and included an announcement that the group secured a 65-year lease for the former Camp YMCA, now known as Ke‘anae Uka.
State Issues Decision on East Maui Interim Instream Flow Standards
The Hawai’i Commission on Water Resource Management today issued a decision on East Maui interim instream flow standards.

“All these areas were populated in taro from Hāna to Keʻanae and Wailuanui. Today we see less,” said Hoshino. “Everything precious to us from wai (water) to ʻāina (land) to ocean because that’s our connection.”
SLOPE DEBRIS REMOVAL ON HANA HIGHWAY
The state Department of Transportation begins work today (Tuesday, April 14, 2009) to remove loose debris from a portion of the Hana Highway. Rock scaling operations will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists can expect traffic stoppages near mile post 21 in Wailuanui while work is in progress. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
