Japan Families Begin Arriving in July for Maui Respite

A total of $115,000 has been raised for the Maui based Aloha Initiative, in which Maui families will host Japan citizens displaced by the March earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis.

Hawaii fundraising efforts continue, 2 months after the Japan quake, with donations reaching $6 million.


Carden Academy Principal Nina Sato and students present a donation to the Japanese Cultural Society of Maui for The Aloha Initiative.  Receiving the donation on behalf of the organization is Mayor Alan Arakawa, honorary chair of The Aloha Initiative, and Lynn Araki-Regan & Keith Regan, co-founders of The Aloha Initiative.
