2009 Hawaiian Grammy Nominees Announced

2009 Grammy Award Nominee, Amy Hanaiali'i for her album 'Aumakua.

The nominees for the Best Hawaiian Music Album features three time award winner, George Kahumoku Jr. of Maui, for his work as a co-producer on “The Spirit of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar” compilation.  The album also features musicians Richard Hoopii, Keoki Kahumoku, Peter deAquino, Sterling Seaton, Bobby Ingano, and Owana Salazar. Joining him for a third time as a nominee is Amy Hanaialii for her album, “`Amakua.”

Others in the running include Tia Carrere & Daniel Ho for “`Ikena,” Ledward Ka’apana & Mike Ka’awa for “Force of Nature,” and Chris & Milton Lau for the, “Hawaiian Slack Key Kings Masters Series Vol. II,” which includes a contribution from Maui’s Kevin and Ikaika Brown.

This is the fifth year that Hawaiian Music has been included as a category.
