Water customers on Mokulele Highway and in North Kihei may be without water tonight and tomorrow morning because of work being done to upgrade a 36-inch waterline to South Maui.  Work runs from 9 o’clock tonight to 5 o’clock tomorrow morning.

Areas affected have little to no water pressure.  Areas most affected include the Central Maui Baseyard, Maui Humane Society, the Puunene Armory, the Maui Research and Technology Park and surrounding residential streets including:  Hoalike Street, Hale Kai Street, Lauloa Street, Nanakai Street, Auhana Road, Aluna Place, Auina Place and Haukai Place. In addition, Maalaea, Kihei, Maui Meadows, Wailea, and Makena may experience low water pressure.

All customers are urged to conserve water by turning off irrigation systems and other non-essential uses of water for tonight (January 15) and tomorrow morning (January 16).  This will allow the Department to preserve water levels in the storage tanks for health and safety purposes.

Customers are urged to call the 24-hour service line at 270-7633, only if a water problem occurs.
