MPD PROMOTES REGO TO LIEUTENANT

Maui Police Detective Jayson Rego was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant.  The 21 year MPD veteran began his career in 1988 after graduating with the 37th Recruit Class.

During his career, he was deputized by the FBI and DEA while assisting with several federal organized crime cases.  He was assigned to the Wailuku Receiving Desk, Wailuku Patrol district and Vice Division.  While being assigned to the Wailuku Patrol, Rego also worked in the Crime Reduction Unit and was a member of the Special Response Team.

Rego was promoted to Sergeant in 1995 and was assigned to the Receiving Desk, Warrant Detail, and the Criminal Investigation Division.

Lt. Rego will remain with the Criminal Investigation Division in Lahaina where he has been for past 12 ½ years.  His promotion went into effect on April 16, 2009.

Lt. Rego is married to Wife Evelyn, and has three children:  daughter Brittany who is a pilot, son Jayson Jr who is attending UH, and son Jordan who is attending Orange Coast College.
