The Maui Lanai Islands Burial Council will conduct a site visit at the Kula Ridge Mauka development this morning (Thursday, September 24, 2009 at 10:30 a.m.) where human remains were inadvertently discovered during grading of the land.

The site is located mauka of the Kula Community Center in Upcountry, Maui.  The Burial Council had requested that the State Historic Preservation Division recommend that the landowner conduct an Addendum to the Archaeological Inventory Survey at the parcel.

The council will also visit the Kahului Airport Runway (at 9 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2009) where drainage improvements are proposed near burial preservation sites.

And there will be a case update on the June 19th inadvertent discovery of human skeletal remains at the Kaanapali-Hyatt during trenching activity for a force main replacement project.
