Two Waiehu children were transported via Medic Air to Kapiolani Medical Center after sustaining critical injuries in a fireworks accident.

The incident was reported just after midnight on January 1, 2010 in a Lower Waiehu subdivision where the injured 11-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl reside.

Maui Police say the two were injured when they were playing with fireworks in the bed of the family’s pick-up truck.  A police investigation revealed that a loud boom was heard, and all of the fireworks in the truck bed were ignited.
