There is a Red Flag Warning in effect for the leeward sections of all islands as strong and gusty trades and low relative humidity creates critical fire weather conditions.  There’s also a wind advisory in effect until 6 p.m. with sustained winds of 30 mph expected.  And there a high surf advisory for the east facing shores of Maui and Molokai through tomorrow.

RED FLAG WARNING:  At 4:26 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for the leeward sections of all islands saying critical fire conditions will persist especially in the late morning and afternoon hours.  The warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 09, 2010.  A red flag warning means that a combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures will create rapid fire growth potential.  It does not predict new fire starts.

WIND ADVISORY:  At 3:30 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Wind Advisory for the Hawaiian Islands with sustained winds near 30 mph and locally higher gusts expected.  Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.  The public is advised to be aware of falling branches.  The advisory is in effect until 6 p.m.

HIGH SURF ADVISORY:  At 3:30 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory for the windward costs of Molokai and Maui, and the windward side of Haleakala.  The Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.  The advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
