Mayor Charmaine Tavares announced the project today saying, “The results of the energy audit will take us one step closer to achieving significant cost savings when the recommendations are applied to our many County buildings. This is another opportunity that we’re pursuing as we continue to look at ways to reduce expenses.”

The 12 county facilities included in the audit are: the Wailuku, Paia, Lahaina, Makawao, Kihei, Kahului, Napili, Kula and Wailea fire stations; the Kaunoa and West Maui senior centers; and the Mitchell Pauole Community Center on Molokai.

The study will result in recommendations for building retrofits, identification of energy saving measures, and propose sizing of renewable energy generation systems.

Energy Industries, LLC is based in Honolulu, but has offices on Maui, and in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California. The company specializes in reducing the energy expenses of its clients by identifying and implementing energy conservation measures, equipment retrofit programs, or efficient designs reducing electrical demands.
