Governor to announce list of potential vetoes

Governor Lingle will announce today a list of bills she is considering for veto.  Today is the deadline to notify the legislature of potential vetoes, but the cut off date to take action is July 6^th.

Earlier this month, the Governor said she would likely take the full time allowed to consider the future of the contentious civil unions bill.  House Bill 444 would allow same-sex couples to receive the same rights, benefits and responsibilities of legally married couples.

The governor just returned from a trade mission to China and Japan.  She called the trip successful in its efforts to promote Hawai‘i’s tourism, trade, clean energy, and educational opportunities.
