The U.S. Coast Guard continues a search for an Olowalu man who went missing from a fishing boat Friday (July 2, 2010) afternoon.

45-year-0ld Edward A. Hickey of Olowalu Village was diving from the boat “Aulani” at around 2:30 p.m. Friday, when he went missing in waters between Maui, Molokai and Lanai. Authorities say the search stems from a boating accident.

The Coast Guard began extensive search efforts Friday, which continued into the night and the agency has since requested the assistance of the Maui Police Department.

As part of the investigation, the Coast Guard requested MPD administer a Breath Alcohol Test on the operator of vessel at the time of the accident. The test was administered using the Alco-Sensor FST Portable Breath Test which resulted in a reading of .000 BrAC.
