Site inspection of Uluniu Halama Beach Reserve today

A site inspection will be conducted today on the Uluniu/Halama Beach Reserve area of South Maui.  The reserve, located 1,000 feet south of Lipoa Street in Kihei, is the focus of today’s meeting of the Governor’s Council of Neighbor Island Advisors for Maui.  Bryce Buchanan and Vernon Altman of the Uluniu Beach Reserve Association will conduct the inspection, review the Beach Reserve Plan, and also inspect the seawall.

Members of the council will also discuss concerns raised over issues at Mala Ramp in West Maui and discuss the Draft EIS for the proposed Maui County Correctional Facility planned for construction in Puunene.

The Governor’s Council of Neighbor Island Advisors for Maui meets today, Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the Reserve Area.  The public is invited to attend.

Governor Linda Lingle created councils of neighbor island advisors to give neighbor island residents a stronger voice in state government. The Governor’s Council of Neighbor Island Advisors for Maui holds monthly public meetings to seek community input, advise the Governor of important issues and make recommendations for state boards and commissions.

Members on Maui are Madge Schaefer (chair), Kathryn Ghean (vice chair), John Henry, Lori Ululani Sablas, Gail K. Takeuchi and Leona Rocha Wilson.
