7.2 quake reported in Mariana Islands, no threat to Hawaii

A 7.2 magnitude quake was reported South of the Mariana Islands this morning.  According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Ewa Beach Hawaii, there is NO tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The quake was reported at 11:20 a.m. HST on Friday, August 13, 2010. 

Based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-Wide tsunami is not expected and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii.  The statement will be the only one issued for this event, unless additional data is received.
