Molokai Airport site of Mass Casualty Exercise

A mass casualty drill is planned on Molokai today (Thursday, October 21, 2010).  The emergency response exercise will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Molokai airport.  The exercise is designed to simulate a plane crash and help in training of emergency workers in response efforts.

First responders participating in the exercise include the Molokai Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting team, the Maui Fire Department, Maui Police Department, Emergency Medical Services, Transportation Security Administration, Federal Aviation Administration, Maui County Civil Defense, Molokai General Hospital and local airlines.  This triennial exercise is an FAA requirement for airport certification.

All flight schedules and airport operations will continue as normal during the exercise.  Air travelers and motorists are asked to e aware of additional emergency vehicles and security personnel staging around the airport for the exercise.
