Paia water line break under repair

County water officials say Paia water customers may run out of water today due to a waterline break on Hana Highway. Skill Village and Paia town currently have no water, and other parts of Paia including Kuau have very low water pressure.

The break was discovered this morning near the Maui Country Club. Repairs to the waterline should not affect traffic.

Customers will have no water or very low pressure until the line is repaired. Department of Water Supply personnel are working to restore water service as quickly as possible; however, it may take seven hours to fix the break (to 2 pm). Customers are urged to use water for health and safety purposes only to preserve the water remaining in the storage tanks.
