Lahaina Halloween 2010: Lahaina Town Action Committee hosts events

Attempts to revive Halloween festivities for adults in Lahaina Town continue despite two consecutive years of failed attempts at obtaining permit approvals. The Lahaina Town Action Committee is moving ahead with separate organized events for specific age groups including: a keiki costume parade beginning at 4:30 p.m., and a Hallow-teen Bash from 6-10 p.m., and an adult celebration at the Cellar beginning at 9 p.m.

Permit requests to close Front Street for the adult celebration were denied, but a portion of the street will be closed earlier in the day for the keiki festivities. All cars parked on Front Street should be moved prior to the 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. road closure in conjunction with the Keiki Halloween Costume Parade that starts at Papalaua Street at 4:30 p.m. and runs to the Banyan Tree Park. The celebration includes a live performance by the Lahainaluna High School marching Band and Ceerleader squad. The keiki event is sponsored jointly by the West Maui Soroptomists, Lahaina Sunrise Rotary and the Lahaina Rotary Club.
Later that evening the LahainaTown Action Committee will host a dual event at 744 Front Street. From 6-10 p.m teens from 8th – 12th grades are invited to the Hallow-teen Bash which will include a live DJ, roof-top dancing, food and soft drinks for purchase, prizes and a costume contest. Teens must show school I.D.
The adult celebration begins at 9 p.m. downstairs of the Old Lahaina Store in the Cellar. Both events are $10 per person.
