A high surf advisory continues for the East facing shores of Maui and Molokai.  The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Surf is expected to be in the 6 to 10 foot range along affected shores.  The swell is generated in part by a high pressure system building to the north of the islands.  The system is bringing elevated, choppy trade swells from the northeast over the next couple of days.

Surf will remain elevated through Friday, before gradually diminishing over the weekend.  The National Weather Service issued the advisory and also released the following tide information:

A high tide of approximately 1.6 feet is expected between 11:54 a.m. and 1:12 p.m. Friday afternoon. The next high tide of approximately 3.0 feet is expected between 2:03 a.m. and 3:21 a.m. Saturday morning.

Beachgoers should avoid entering water along east facing shores due to choppy, rough surf and hazardous wave action.
