Today is the deadline to submit applications for axis deer hunting on Lanai. The season consists of three hunts—the first of which is an archery-only hunt over eight consecutive days beginning on February 19th.  The second hunt is a Muzzleloading hunt taking place over two consecutive weekends beginning March 5th.  And the third is a general rifle hunt held over 9 consecutive weekends beginning March 19th.

Application forms for the 2011 Lanai Axis deer hunting season, together with instruction sheets, are available at all Division of Forestry and Wildlife offices statewide.  Due to a recent court ruling, application and tag fees have been waived.
