Trash Pickup Missed in Kula, Furlough Friday Collection Changes

Residents in parts of Kula did not receive refuse service today because of a staff shortage.  The County’s Solid Waste Division expects to pickup trash on the affected route tomorrow (Wednesday, December 8, 2010).

Affected areas include:  Haleakala Highway, Haleakala Crater Road, Lower Kula Road, Kekaulike Highway, Copp Road, Holomakani Drive, Kai Nana Place, Puakea Place, Kamehamehaiki Road, Kolohala Drive, Naalae road, Pulehuiki Road and surrounding streets.  Department personnel apologized for the inconvenience.

The Solid Waste Division also announced that the County’s furlough Friday on December 10th, will affect refuse pickups in Hana and on Molokai.

Trash normally picked up on Friday in Hana, will be picked up on Thursday instead.  There will be no change to the Thursday pickups on Molokai; however, refuse normally picked up on Friday on Molokai, will be picked up on Wednesday instead.

Friday trash service to other parts of Maui will be provided, and all county landfills will be open for normal hours of operation.
