Snow Expected on Big Island Summits
The summits of the Big Island can expect a white winter with 6 inches of snow expected today.
The National Weather Service upgraded a Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm WARNING at 8:06 this morning. The Warning will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2010.

Forecasters say deep moisture will spread over the Big Island today and tonight bringing cold temperatures, heavy snow, and freezing rain to the summit areas. The elevations affected are areas above 12,000 feet. Total snowfall amounts are expected to be in excess of 6 inches.
These types of conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. The advisory includes the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
