Despite her trademark dainty voice, Rita Rudner manages to deliver punch after comedic punch.

One of the most popular acts in Vegas, this funny girl will be performing at 7:30 this Saturday night (December 17th), at the MACC’s McCoy studio theater.

Charming, beautiful, and witty, she has been voted “The Best Comedian in Vegas” eight years in a row by the Los Vegas Review-Journal. In the last ten years she has sold over one million tickets to her show, and just renewed her contract with the resorts. There is a buzz that envelops her and it doesn’t show signs of slowing down.

Rudner’s brand of comedy is entertaining, sly, self-deprecating, and incessantly shallow. It overflows with gender stereotypes and ditzy self-defacing commentary.

With quip after quip about makeup, facelifts, cleavage, shopping, spa treatments, weight, shoes, and spray-on tans, her wide-eyed breathy delivery hovers somewhere between bafflingly irksome and fascinatingly addictive.

A visit to her youtube videos will leave you feeling like you just watched a live action comedic version of a tabloid paper. You want to close the window but instead you watch every single thing she’s ever recorded. And then hunger for more.

It is sometimes baffling, her appeal. But very very tangible. Undeniably so.

On her website it says that she entered the world of comedy after failing in the dance scene in New York. She noticed that there wasn’t much female competition in comedy and took a shot at it.

It is that sense of half-witted cleverness that makes you wonder if she really is as flakey as she portrays herself to be. Some of her clever anecdotes include one liners like, “I got kicked out of ballet class because I pulled a groin muscle. It wasn’t mine.”

Or “I was going to have cosmetic surgery until I noticed that the doctor’s office was full of portraits by Picasso.”

She has graced the stages of shows such as David Letterman, Johnny Carson, Bill Maher, Jay Leno, Bob Hope, George Burns, Conan O’Brien and Oprah Winfrey.

Her hour long comedy special “Rita Rudner: Live From Las Vegas” aired on PBS. She also filmed specials for HBO including “Rita Rudner: Born to Be Mild” and “Rita Rudner: Married Without Children.” She also won a Gracie Allen Award from the American Women in Television and Radio.

The bold and brassy Rudner is a multi-talented diva. She is the best-selling author of “I Still Have It; I Just Can’t Remember Where I Put It”, and “Naked Beneath My Clothes.”

This comedic princess must be doing something right. If you want to find out exactly what that is, catch her live this Saturday night at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are $35 for standard seats and $65 for premium seating with a post-show meet & greet.
