Appointments made for Hawaii Health Team and DOT Deputy Director

The state Department of Health will be led by Dr. Neal Palafox under the new Abercrombie-Schatz administration.  The appointment was announced over the weekend and is subject to Senate confirmation.

Gov. Abercrombie also announced his choice of Loretta Fuddy, MSW as the Health Department’s First Deputy Director, Gary Gill as the Deputy Director for the Environment, and Jan Sekiya Gouveia as the Department of Transportation Deputy Director of Administration

“The Department of Health needs strong leadership to overcome its current organizational challenges,” said Gov. Abercrombie in a media release. “Our team of professionals has the ability and proven track record to rebuild our system of public health,” said Gov. Abercrombie.

Gov. Abercrombie is expected to name one additional Deputy Director for the Department of Health at a later date.
