The CoreAlign, a brand new form of exercise equipment that is shaping up to be a new revolution in rehab and fitness, has made its way to Maui thanks to Caleb Rhodes, owner of Pe’ahi Studio in Haiku. The CoreAlign, according to Rhodes, “is a wonderful tool for improving posture and functional movement, whether you’re training to increase your athletic performance or recovering from an injury.”

The CoreAlign® improves strength and balance

The device was developed by Jonathan Hoffman, a physical therapist, who was seeking out a way to train patients to move their body in harmony and speed up injury recovery time. It consists of two independent foot tracks and an upright ladder. With changing levels of resistance, conducting one of the 200 plus exercises, developed for the machine thus far, requires total concentration, balance, and posture.

You won’t find the CoreAlign at your local gym or in a physical therapists office. In order to train clients on the device, Rhodes had to undergo extensive training and a certification process. Individuals using it must have supervision since exercises need to be performed with perfect precision to be beneficial.

You do not have to be a professional athlete to use the CoreAlign. In fact, with variable resistance options, it can be adjusted to meet the needs of a wide range of fitness levels. Rhodes discovered the device after attending a Pilates conference and he knew it would be very beneficial to his clients, many who are recovering from a physical injury.

Caleb Rhodes is a dancer who discovered Pilates over ten years ago to increase his overall flexibility while helping him maintain stability in his core and lower back. He studied and worked at the famed Ellie Herman Studio and was a featured model in both the Pilates for Dummies and the Pilates Props Workbook.

Pe’ahi Studio focuses on Pilates, fitness, and rehabilitation. To find out more about the CoreAlign and Pe’ahi Studio go to www.alohapeahistudio.com or call (808) 573-0480.
