Music is a language that transcends age and dialect.

This is the core of Aubrey Myer’s mission – to bring music education to children, and instill that language in them.

As part of the community outreach she does through her company, La-Ti-Da Music, “Miss Aubrey” will be offering a free children’s sing-a-long this Thursday, December 30, at 10 am. The concert will take place in the children’s section of the Makawao Public Library.

Dubbed “A Winter in Hawai’i Sing Along,” the show will feature puppets, music, dance and fun.

The one hour show is open to parents who have children of 3 years and older.

For children young and old alike, music is a learning tool for communication, and play. With so many of the arts being cut from public education, it is people like Aubrey who are making a difference in keeping it alive, and bringing music to the forefront of parental bonding.

Miss Aubrey offers private instruction as well as teaching in local schools. She regularly runs free programs which she puts on in libraries and schools.

Having spent many years as a nanny, Myers has a special bond with children. She came from a musical family and has never lost her inner child, always creating plays, dances, musicals, and puppet shows.

She began applying her passion for play and music to teach and stimulate creativity in children over 10 years ago, and has been been teaching in fun interactive settings ever since.
