Global Franchise List Ranks L&L #146

The fast-casual Hawaiian restaurant L&L Franchise Inc., known on Maui as L&L Drive-In, was recently listed on two Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2011 Franchise 500 lists.

As a Global Franchise, L&L was listed #146 and #184 on the U.S. Franchise list.

Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500® is the most comprehensive franchise ranking. Rankings are based on objective, quantifiable measures of success. Ranking factors include financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of the system.

The number of years a company has been in business and the length of time it’s been franchising, startup costs, litigation, percentage of terminations, and whether the company provides financing also are ranking considerations.

Founded in 1975, L&L began franchising in 1991, and startup costs for a franchise are listed between $134,600 and $515, 400. The franchise fee is $35,000 and royalty fees are 4%. Basically, franchising is the practice of using another firm’s successful business model. In turn, the franchisee pays a franchise fee to operate a franchise branch of a larger company and enjoy the profits, and some operational support, there from.

As of 2010, L&L had 188 franchises, with 3 being international.

The chain known is also known as L&L Hawaiian Barbecue on the mainland.
