Tonight, fireworks are expected to increase particulates in the air between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., the four hour time frame given for the public to use fireworks. The National Weather Service is calling for a 20% chance of rain tonight that may help to dissipate the smokiness in the air.

The New Year’s Day forecast calls for isolated showers in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies on the first day of the new year. Winds will shift to westerly at 5-9 mph with highs near 82 degrees.
