Seabury continues dominance in D-II hoops

It says a lot about Seabury Hall’s basketball program that the Spartans have continued their unbeaten run through the MIL despite the absence of reigning Division-II Player of the Year Dylan King for three straight games because of an ankle injury.

Last night, Seabury cruised to a 54-22 win over St. Anthony as Phelan Fagano continued his hot shooting for the Spartans by finishing with a game-high 25 points. Seabury is ranked No. 10 in the latest Star-Advertiser poll.

In other MIL hoops action, Gabe Ross scored 18 points for Baldwin 55-44 win over Maui High. At 7-2, the Bears trail Lahainaluna by a full game in the D-I standings.

King Kekaulike defeated Kamehameha-Maui 50-43 behind Jovan Swain’s 14 points. Kamalei Medeiros scored 18 for the Warriors.

Lahainaluna seeks to improve on a league 7-0 record when it visits Kekaulike tomorrow night.

The girls’ hoops, D-I Lahainaluna and D-II Molokai are the overwhelming favorites to win their respective MIL tournament titles.

In a D-I quarterfinal game, Kamehameha plays host to Baldwin at 5:30.

Three games are on tap tomorrow at the Kamehameha gym.

At 4:30, Seabury challenges Lanai in a D-II game.

In D-I action, Lahainaluna will seek to extend its utter domination of the MIL when it faces the winner of today’s Baldwin-Kamehahema at 5:30. The Lunas are unbeaten in the MIL and ranked fourth in the state.

Kekaulike and Maui High will tangle at 7 o’clock in the other D-I semifinal.

MIL SOCCER: The Kamehameha-Maui girls moved into solve possession for first place in the D-I soccer standings with a 2-0 victory over Lahainaluna.

The Warriors are 10-1 with 30 points, three more than idle and unbeaten Baldwin. The Bears have played two games less than Kamehameha at 9-0 with 27 points.

King Kekaulike also has 27 points after improving to 9-2 after rallying to a 4-2 win over D-II leader Seabury Hall.

In MIL action today, the King Kekaulike boys visit Seabury at 4 p.m., while King Kekaulike and Maui High play a doube-header at War Memorial Stadium. The girls’ match is set for 5 p.m., with the boys squaring off at 7 o’clock.
