NPAC Maui Announces Annual Meeting

The Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition of Maui County will hold its annual meeting on Monday, February 28 at the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapu from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm. 

Funded by the State of Hawaii Department of Health’s Healthy Hawai`i Initiative (HHI) through a contract with the University of Hawai`i at Manoa’s Office of Public Health Studies, John A. Burns School of Medicine, the Maui County Nutrition & Physical Activity Coalition (NPAC) first reconvened in March, 2008.

The priority areas of Maui County NPAC are worksite wellness,  healthcare, schools, nutrition and physical activity and the built environment.

The meeting will feature a keynote address by Dr. S. Kalani Brady, Associate Professor John A. Burns School of Medicine and “Ask the Doctor” on KHON.  The topic of Dr. Brady’s talk will be  “The Health and Culture of Native Hawaiians Past and Present”.

There will also be a video message presented from Maya Soetoro-ng, sister in law to Let’s Move Campaign creator First Lady Michelle Obama.

The meeting will also include award recognitions, election of officers and directors.  An opportunity for guests to network and share information will be highlighted by selected “Three Minutes of Fame” announcements from guests.
