Aging With Aloha Coalition, KCA Hosting Community Forum

On Wednesday, Feb. 23, the Aging with Aloha Coalition, in partnership with the Kihei Community Association, is hosting a community forum at the Kihei Charter School entitled “Aging with Aloha in 2011 and Beyond.”
Rita Barreras, director of the Aging with Aloha Coalition will be joined by John Buck, mayor’s executive assistant (Kihei), and Bill Medeiros, mayor’s executive assistant (East) to discuss long term elder care issues in Maui County and Kihei, in particular.
Formerly called the Maui Long Term Care Partnership, the Aging with Aloha Coalition is made up of over 100 public, private, and non-profit organizations in Maui County who are dedicated to establishing and sustaining a comprehensive, coordinated home and community-based model of services for all that fosters quality of life and death with dignity.
Rita Barreras is the Project Director for the Aging with Aloha Coalition. She has a Master’s Degree in Urban Affairs from University of Colorado at Denver, and was formerly the Division Director of Aging and Adult Services for the Colorado Department of Human Services. She is also a Rotarian and has recently served as President of the Kahului Rotary Club.
The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a pupu potluck.
The Kihei Charter Middle School is located at 41 E Lipoa Street in Kihei.
