Baldwin rallies for 7-6 win over Kekaulike

Baldwin continued its dominance of MIL baseball this season by improving its league record to 8-0 on Thursday night.

But the victory didn’t come easy, as the Bears had to rally from a three-run deficit to defeat stubborn King Kekaulike 7-6 at Iron Maehara Stadium.

Baldwin capped its comeback by scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning after having trailed 4-1 in the first.

The two teams tangle again on Saturday, with Na Alii taking a 2-6 mark into the 12:30 game.

In other action last night, traditional MIL baseball power Maui High continued to struggle as Kamehameha-Maui stayed two games back of Baldwin in the league standings by defeating the Sabers 5-4.

The victory improved the Warriors’ record to 6-2, while Maui High plunged to 4-7. The two teams meet again at 3:30.

Also on tap today are Division-II games featuring Lanai at Molokai and Seabury Hall hosting St. Anthony at Eddie Tam Field. Both game are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. starts.

SOCCER: Congratulations to King Kekaulike’s Logan Bantilan for his selection as MIL soccer player of the year in a survey conducted by the Maui News.

He was joined on the all-MIL first team by Baldwin’s Anthony Barboza, Nathan Fernandez, Dean Phillips and Leo Fayt, Lahainaluna’s Jorge Hernandez and Elton Rivera, Keakulike’s Shanti Holland and Taylor DeGuerra, Seabury Hall’s Conner Snow, Kamehameha-Maui’s Keola Felipe, and St. Anthony’s Chris Maeda.
