Slow Food Maui will host another session in its Taste Education Series, an evening of making sorbets and gelatos with Melissa McKelvey of Penguini in Paia.

McKelvey’s creations are made from locally grown ingredients in suprising combinations such as lilikoi-mango and Olinda plum and ginger. The sorbet and gelato session will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 6pm – 7:30pm at the Maui Culinary Academy in Kahului. The cost is $15 and though walk-ins are welcome, reservations are encouraged.

Wednesday, May 25 – Chocolate tasting with Melanie Boudar of Sweet Paradise Chocolatier.

Wednesday, June 29 –Learn all about organic, grass-fed beef on Maui with William Jacintho of Beef and Blooms, Hawaii’s first certified organic ranch.

Wednesday, July 27 – Take a trip to Maui Brewing Co. where owner Garrett Marrero will give a grand tour and tasting.

Wednesday, August 31 – Join Don Wakamatsu of Whole Foods Maui as he shares his fish knowledge on how to select, cut and prepare local, sustainable fish.

Wednesday, September 28 – Retired Maui Culinary Academy Chef Instructor Bobby Santos returns to share his knowledge of raising poultry chickens.

Wednesday, October 26 – Ralph Giles and Daniel J Southmayd, owners of Catering From Soup to Nuts, introduce everyone to planning the perfect dinner party.
