MIL runnerup King Kekaulike opens against Waipahu at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Waiakea High. The Bears draw a first-round bye and will face the winner of Kamehameha-Hawaii versus Leilehua at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Kea’au High.

TENNIS: Second-seeded Kento Tanaka-Tamaki of St. Anthony reached the final in boy’s singles, suffering a 6-4, 6-3 loss against top-seeded Chas Okamoto of Kapaa in Saturday’s title match at the Royal Lahaina

As usual, Punahou dominated the team competitions. The Buffanblu girls edged Iolani, 18-16, for a ninth straight state title. The boys set a national prep mark last year by winning their 20th straight state crown and extended their streak with 22 points. Iolani was a distant second with 10.
