The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation is offering free kayak lessons.  The one-day only event is made possible through a grant from the National Recreation and park Association as a benefit for the public, especially veterans and active military members.

The kayak lesson will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Kanaha Beach Park.

The deadline to registers is May 13, 2011.  Parks officials said only those who register ahead of time may receive the free lesson, with priority registration given to veterans and active military personnel.
