Better Choices Better Health Workshop Offered in Wailuku

The County of  Maui’s Office on Aging will launch a Better Choices Better Health, chronic disease self-management workshop on  June 7th at its One Main Plaza sixth floor conference room at 2200 Main Street.  The workshop will run for six consecutive Tuesdays from 5;30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Better Choices Better Health workshops provide practical information, to people of all ages who are interested in incorporating healthier habits into their lives, and help people with chronic conditions better manage their health.

The six classes focus on learning and implenting new skills used to stay health and control symptoms through relaxation, nutrition, improved communication skills, medication management and more.   Participants develop achievable ‘action plans’ that lead to positive changes and greater confidence.

Participants also receive “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, 3rd Edition,  and an audio relaxation CD, “Time for Healing.”

Advance registration is required as space is limited to 14 participants per classes.  Small interactive classes focus on building skills, sharing experiences and developing support.

The cost for the six session workshop is $10 for those 60 and older, and $35 for those under 60.   Scholarships are available for anyone under 60 experiencing finanancial hardship.

Transportation may be available and caregivers are encouraged to attend.
