Customers in Honokowai, Napili, and Kahana in West Maui are urged to conserve water for the rest of the day today (Saturday, June 4, 2011) due to a power outage at the Napili Wells. Power has been out since approximately 3:00 a.m.

Since that time, the pumps at the wells have not been operational.  Jacky Takakura, the Administrative Officer with the County Department of Water Supply said water levels in the storage tanks are very low, and may go empty if consumers do not reduce water usage.  The Kahana Ridge area may also experience low water pressure during this time, said Takakura.

Consumers should turn off all irrigation and use water for health and safety purposes only. It is hoped that power will be restored by the end of the day today and water service will return to normal tomorrow.
