Work to renovate War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku continued today as crews complete finishing touches on the bleachers.

The closure of the War Memorial Football Stadium began on May 23, and was scheduled to reopen today.

Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) Executive Director Joe Balangitao said games scheduled for Friday and Saturday this week will be played, as planned, at the stadium.

He said the scoreboard, PA system and field are ready for use, as well as the middle section of bleachers.

Crews have been working for the past three months to replace lights, the PA system and all of the wood bleachers with aluminum seats.

They also worked to repair track drainage, the scoreboard and concrete on the stadium grounds.
