Shuttle Service Offered to Lahaina Halloween

Central and South Maui residents can catch a shuttle bus to the Halloween in Lahaina festivities.  Organizers of the “Halloween In Lahaina-Back on Front” event are offering the Lahaina Halloween Express at a cost of $3 each way.

Cash-only ticket sales begin on Sunday, October 23 at the Shell Service Super Stop on Dairy Road in Kahului, and at Blackie’s Pit Stop on Mana’o Kala Street in Kihei.

The Lahaina Halloween Express shuttles will depart from War Memorial Parking Lot in Wailuku and from South Kihei Road in Wailea during specified times on Halloween, October 31.

Organizers with the Lahaina Town Action Committee say shuttles will be available on a first-come first-serve basis for purchase and boarding.

Buses are being ordered on pre-sale numbers, and buses will be cancelled if ticket sales for specific time slots are not sold.

A schedule of events runs from 3:30 p.m. to midnight on Halloween and includes the closure of Front Street between Baker and Prison Streets for the duration of festivities.

Keiki Events:

The first scheduled event is at 4:30 p.m. with the 33rd Annual Keiki Halloween Costume Parade.  The event is sponsored by the Lahaina Rotary Club, Sunrise Rotary Club of Lahaina and the Soroptimist of West Maui. Maui keiki are invited to come in costume and parade down Front Street to Banyan Tree Park, receive a congratulatory ribbon and bag of treats. Participants can meet Mayor Arakawa and his wife Anne, and enjoy The Royal Hawaiian Guard marching in the parade.

Campbell Park Lineup:

Live entertainment at Campbell Park begins runs from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring “1810” and “Sounds of Addiction.”

All in attendance are also are invited to join in the keiki activities and face painting at the location, and food sales that begin at 4 p.m.

Halloween in Lahaina is supported by sales of the event’s official “Back on Front” t-shirt, which is on sale now at the Lahaina Visitors Center at the Old Courthouse (opening daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and at Campbell Park on Halloween.

Entries will also be accepted at Campbell Park for the grown-up Costume Contest between 6 and 8:45 p.m.

Brandscombe Richmond Emcees Costume Contest at Banyan Tree Park:

Festivities at Banyan Tree Park begin at 6 p.m., with the adult costume contest taking place between 7 and 9 p.m.

The grown-up Costume Contest will be emceed by Maui’s own Branscombe Richmond with music by DJ Jonathan Scott at Banyan Tree Park.

The contest is sponsored by Honu Seafood & Pizza and Mala Ocean Tavern with the winner taking home a $1,000 grand prize.

The winners will be announced at 9:30 p.m.

Family Friendly Reminders From the LTAC:

The Lahaina Town Action Committee and the Office of Economic Development are host the family friendly event for the residents and visitors of Maui.

To keep Halloween fun and safe for those in attendance organizers ask the public to review the following information:

• Street Closure: From Baker Street to Prison Street, Front Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. No street parking is allowed from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. Employees parked in parking lots with ingress/egress only on Front Street will not be able to exit parking lots between 3:30 p.m to midnight.
• Obey the Laws: Underage drinking is not allowed. Public alcohol consumption is not allowed. Public nudity is not allowed.
• First Aid Station/ Lost Person Tent: is located at Banyan Tree Park, corner of Front Street and Canal Street. This year there will be more Porta-Potties and light towers than in previous Halloween in Lahaina events. Porta-Potties will be located on Papalaua, Lahainaluna, Market and Canal Streets.
