BRIEF: Search Resumes for Missing Hiker in Maliko

A search is on going for a missing hiker at Maliko Gulch in Haiku.

Authorities say Tristan Brennan, 29, was last seen walking along a pineapple field between 3 and 5 p.m. on Friday November 11, 2011.

The search effort includes crews from the Maui Fire Department’s Engine-2, Rescue-10 and Air-1 helicopter.

Twenty or more volunteers have also assisted with searching in the nearby fields, as well as Maliko Gulch from the bay up to Kaluanui Road.

Three detectives with the Maui Police Department and authorities with East Maui Irrigation are also on hand for the local knowledge of the water ways and keys to open gates.

The search resumed at first light today after crews suspended the search overnight because of darkness.

Fire and Police conducted a full-day search yesterday, until their operations were suspended because of darkness.

The search resumes today.
