Maui County Council Member Joe Pontanilla is the latest victim of a vehicle theft on Maui.

Each week, Maui Police release a list of the vehicles stolen on the island.  While the most current report is still being compiled, we know that there were nine vehicle thefts on Maui in the first week of December, and eight vehicle thefts on the island the week before.

Pontanilla’s Toyota 4-Runner was stolen from the parking lot of the Maui Beach Hotel on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at around 8:40 p.m.

Anyone who spots stolen vehicles on Maui should not approach, attempt to follow, or take any other action that could put them in danger.

Those with information concerning the whereabouts of stolen vehicles should call 9-1-1.
