According to Maui police, the vehicle struck the guardrail; and then became impaled by the guardrail–which went through the front windshield and exited through the back windshield.

The 22-year-old woman driving the car was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening head injuries, according to Maui Police Officer III, Dennis Clifton, with the department’s Community Relations Section.

The woman was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
